Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanour's charge yesterday in an L.A. court in connection with a May hit-and-run crash. According to Reuters, two lesser charges of driving without a valid license and proof of insurance were dropped in the case, in which the singer allegedly hit a woman's car at a red light and then fled the scene. Brown was not present in court.
A judge revoked Brown's probation last week because of the traffic accident, and he could face jail time if it's determined that he violated the terms of his probation. Brown aired his frustration last week on Twitter.
"I did everything I was supposed to do during the so called hit n run, I provided the correct info. There were no injuries or damages. C'mon!!!" he posted.
Brown has been on probation since July 2009 after pleading guilty to one count of assault for attacking then-girlfriend Rihanna the night before the Grammys in February of that year. He was also sentenced to 180 days community service and required to attend domestic violence counseling.
The next court date in connectin with the hit-and-run will be on August 15th. Brown will be required to attend.
